Holmbridge Cricket Club - Club Development Plan

As a club we have the CDP documentation in place,

Our aim is to have this more detailed content available for Spring 2024

The end of the 2019 season also saw the culmination of our last 5 year plan which was predominately focused on improving the clubs facilities, to ensure it remained safe and attractive to both new and current members. The old clubhouse was replaced with a new facility, new coaching equipment has been purchased for all participants, including netting, a bar has been installed and the club’s finances have grown.

The club is built on a solid cricket foundation and strives to improve year upon year.

Club Vision

Previous CDPs have placed, at the heart of the club’s vision the development and improvement of its core facilities. This remains central to our vision for the creation of a sustainable and viable club today and into the future. Our plans are designed and developed around our commitment to place the cricket club at the heart of the Holmbridge community. Past CDPs and future are created around our foundational belief that community is enriched by the club and that the club is similarly improved and enriched by the vibrant community that it is part of.

Holmbridge Cricket Club was established in 1868 and over 150 years later, our primary objective is to ensure that it remains part of the community in 150 year’s time. We are therefore committed to developing a club that is sustainable. Sustainability for Holmbridge Cricket Club extends beyond the on-field, match-day experience and through into its community relationships and reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

In our previous CDP, we set out a plan to move to solar power for electricity. Having delivered this part of our plan, the club is optimising and improving this installation. Our aim remains to achieve 100% independence from central grid electricity and our target is to achieve this within this iteration of the CDP. In the last CDP, through the installation of solar panels, we achieved 70% grid independence. Further developments and optimisations of the installation are expected to help us achieve full independence. Any surplus energy generated will be sold back to the grid, further driving our aim to develop long-term sustainability.

The club continues to expand its junior section and in tandem with this encourages and supports all players to attain their coaching certificates. The club’s junior section has seen significant improvements across the previous CDP and we remain committed to maintaining our levels of growth and improvement. Built around four core principles of building “Teamship”, “Persistence”, “Fair Play” and a “Love of the Game”, the club’s primary aim for the junior section remains to increase engagement through the creation of a welcoming, friendly and fun space. We have achieved our aim of attracting new members to the junior section and building a solid foundation for young cricketers, as set out in the previous CDP. Now, we aim to continue to improve results, sustainably run our now underway Under 17 side and further grow our playing base of girls.

The investment in the Junior Section has meant we now have 3 ECB Level 2 Coaches, 3 ECB Level 1 Coaches and 2 ECB Coaching Foundation qualified members. These coaches are maintaining their CPD targets and further developing their knowledge and skills.

Furthermore, the Club will continue to raise its profile within the local community to encourage local participation. Not only will this improve the Club’s position it will also help to support community cohesion.

In regards facilities, there are still some minor improvements to be made but the biggest aim is to install a contemporary all weather netting facility to improve practice spaces, build new garage spaces for equipment storage and ensure that the facilities remain at a very high standard.
